The Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Department has officially launched the RTE Admission 2026-27 process. This year, Kanpur alone is offering 16,160 free seats across 1,629 private schools. Under the Right to Education (RTE) Act, children from economically weaker and disadvantaged backgrounds can study in top-tier private institutions for free.
The application process is split into three distinct phases. If you miss the first deadline, you can still apply in the subsequent rounds!

Selection is based on the child’s age as of April 1, 2026. Please ensure your child falls within these brackets:

Pre-Primary (Nursery): 3 to 4 years

Class 1: 6 to 7 years
Eligibility Categories:

EWS (Weak Sections): Families with an annual income below βΉ1 Lakh.

DG (Disadvantaged Groups): Includes SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy), orphans, children with HIV/Cancer, and children of Divyang parents.

Visit Portal: Go to rte25.upsdc.gov.in.

New Registration: Click on “Online Application” and fill in basic details to get your Registration ID.

Fill Form: Log in and provide family income, address, and category details.

School Selection: Choose up to 10 private schools in your neighborhood ward/gram panchayat.
